KACO new energy Enters the Japanese Market

The South Korean subsidiary of KACO new energy, the German inverter manufacturer based in Neckarsulm, is to supply inverters to the largest Japanese system integrator. The scope is at least 50 megawatts.

On 14th June, KACO new energy South Korea, a subsidiary of the German inverter manufacturer based in Neckarsulm signed an exclusive contract with the Japanese full system supplier GREEN TEC at the Intersolar Europe trade fair. The supply of inverters totalling a minimum of 50 megawatts was agreed for 2013. As such, the company is the first to secure significant entry into the Japanese market. Kazushi Kawakatsu, CEO of GREEN TEC, Ralf Hofmann, CEO of KACO new energy, and Dr. Ted Kim, CEO of KACO new energy south Korea, signed the contract. The Powador XP 100 N as well as models with 50 and 42 kilowatt output will be delivered to Japan. These are best suited to the (110V) Japanese grid requirements.

CEO Ralf Hofmann said, ¡°This contract marks a considerable extension of our good collaboration. We expect stable business with room for expansion¡°.

GREEN TEC had already worked with KACO new energy South Korea in the past and has installed inverters for photovoltaic plants on the South Korean peninsula. Now the collaboration will start in Japan. The Japanese photovoltaic market is growing strongly at the moment. In 2011 plants with a cumulative output of one gigawatt were installed. In 2013 this is expected to double to 2 gigawatts. GREEN TEC is one of the biggest players on the Japanese market. The Kyoto-based company belongs to the top three full system suppliers in Japan.

This contracted supply consists of central inverters for high output photovoltaic plants. KACO new energy is also expecting increased demand in Nippon for inverters for household PV systems as well as intelligent storage solutions.
